FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Sports massage is a specialized form of massage therapy designed to enhance athletic performance, recovery, and overall flexibility. It targets muscle-tendon junctions and can help athletes at any level prepare for, and recover from, strenuous workouts. Even non-athletes can benefit from sports massage to alleviate muscle stiffness, improve circulation, and reduce stress.

Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine that uses special cups placed on the skin to create suction. The suction promotes increased blood flow to the area, helping to relieve muscle tension, improve circulation, and reduce inflammation. It's often used to treat chronic pain, respiratory conditions, and to promote overall relaxation and well-being.

Dry needling is a therapeutic treatment that involves inserting thin needles into trigger points or tight muscles in the body. Unlike acupuncture, which focuses on energy flow and balance within the body, dry needling targets specific areas of discomfort and muscle tightness. It can be highly effective in treating muscular pain and dysfunction, such as chronic muscle strains or spasms.

An injury assessment is a comprehensive evaluation of a physical injury conducted by a skilled therapist. It involves understanding the nature and cause of the injury, examining the affected area, and identifying the best course of treatment. Consider getting an injury assessment if you have persistent pain, discomfort, or limitations in movement, whether from a recent injury or an ongoing condition.

While these therapies offer various benefits, they may not be suitable for everyone. Individual needs and medical conditions must be considered. At Hot Yoga & Recovery Carrick, we conduct a thorough assessment and consultation to determine the most appropriate therapy for your specific situation. Whether it's sports massage, cupping, dry needling, or injury assessment, our personalized approach ensures that you receive the most effective treatment for your needs.
